Beautiful vintage 1960s Welsh wool blanket in subtle colours of pale peach, burgundy & cream speckled plaid checks. Heavy yarn with blanket stitch to long sides & twisted fringe to both ends. This lovely 'marl' or flecked mix finish was typical of those woven in the Pencader area. Lovely condition.
Gorgeous carthen (the Welsh word for blanket) & a piece of Welsh history & heritage. Only a handful of working mills remain in Wales now out of some 300 we had back in the day. Weaving them is now an endangered heritage craft.
