Gorgeous vintage Welsh wool tapestry pea coat in striking bright pinks & purples. Buttons to front. Large patch pockets. Lovely condition. Welsh label inside. I'd say size 16/18 as that's my size & fits me comfortably with plenty of room to take buttons over too. The tapestry fabric of this coat is the 'vintage rose' design woven by Melin Tregwynt. The same pattern recently worn by Catherine, Princess of Wales but she wore an orange one.
Back in the day there were 300 working woollen mills in Wales & most would have had a shop with a Tailoress who made clothing. They would also sell lengths of the wool fabric to small fashion houses like Mari Lwyd, Dillad Coracle, Celtique & Eclipse. The mills sadly have dwindled to single figures so you would be wearing a bit of Welsh & midcentury fashion
