Stunning vintage Welsh wool tapestry blanket in unusual red & green two tone interwoven colourway that looks burgundyish with black & white geometric design. This 1960s blanket is a signature design of Elvet Woollen Mill in Cynwyl Elfed, Carmarthenshire, West Wales. Elvet is an 1870s mill on the river Duad & faced closure as owner Mike Talbot was retiring. Thankfully it was rescued by weaver Daniel Harris of London Cloth Company in 2022 & the incredible heritage looms preserved.
This particular blanket was brought in by a lady who picked it out at the mill herself for her 21st birthday gift from her Mamgu (Welsh for Grandmother) in the 1960's.
King size. Measures 230cms x 220cms. Great condition. Fully reversible.
