Stunning & rare vintage 1970s Welsh wool tapestry coat/bomber jacket with hood. In traditional Caernarfonshire portcullis design mustard, black & white. This pattern is normally reserved for the blankets so this is a great find & real funky 'Wow'. Slash pockets. Zip front. Short style. Elasticated cuffs. Good condition. Size 12/14. Lovely Welsh 'Rhydybont' Woollen Mill label - sadly long gone.
Back in the day there were 300 working woollen mills in Wales & most would have had a shop with a Tailoress who made clothing. They would also sell lengths of the wool fabric to small fashion houses like Mari Lwyd, Dillad Coracle, Celtique & Eclipse. The mills sadly have dwindled to single figures so you would be wearing a bit of Welsh & midcentury fashion
